It is with a heavy heart that we announce that T.I.M.S.H. will no longer be uploading daily posts. However, we will not be removing any of our existing posts from X/Twitter. Please help us continue to spread the word by re-sharing our older posts on the appropriate days. Thank you for the years of support!

About Today in Mass Shooting History

Due to the U.S. Government’s fear, greed, and unwillingness to take meaningful action, mass shootings have become normalized in American culture. Our hope is that the Today In Mass Shooting History posts serve as a daily reminder that until things change, history will continue to reload.

All of the data referenced in the Today In Mass Shooting History posts has been collected from multiple mass shooting databases including The Gun Violence Archive and The Violence Project. Some of the data between our sources was inconsistent. In these cases we did our best to find the most accurate information. If you have a correction or addition, please contact us via X/Twitter.

For the purposes of this project, an event is considered a “mass shooting” when at least 4 people have been killed and/or injured by the shooting. Also, we've limited our posts to just those events in which at least two people were killed — which means there are a LOT more incidents of gun violence (including many more "mass shootings") in America that are not included in our posts.
